Film Trailer Analysis: Breathe

Film production logos are usually presented at the beginning of the trailer. This is reinforced when we see the two production companies 'BLEECKER STREET' and 'PARTICIPANT MEDIA' at the beginning of the trailer. 'PARTICPANT MEDIA' is a major film distribution company established in America. They are know for movies such as, Wonder whose revenue was $300.4 million ate the box office. 'PARTICIPANT MEDIA' has been known for some well known films which include A-list actors like Tom Hanks in the 'Bridge of Spies' this shows that when individuals watch this trailer and see see the company's logo they would want to come and watch this film as the recognized the previous movies that they have done and have enjoyed them, therefore they would want to come and see this movie. However this could also have an alternative effect,in which people recognize the film company's logo and not want to go and see the movie as they recognize the previous works that they have done.

The first character that the audience is introduced to is  Diane Cavendish 'Claire Foy', but whilst the audience is introduced to her we also her a male voice over. The voice over is discussing dancing and rejection. This shows to the audience the movie is centered around these two individuals
Diane and Robin Cavendish 'Andrew Garfield', the man who is speaking. It also suggests to the audience that there is an element of romance in the movie as we are first introduced to this idea of romance. This suggest that movie is a romantic drama and involves c couple fighting the struggles of life.

The music begins when see the film production logos. The music falls into the category of Jazz and swing which connotes the era that the characters are in. This is reinforced with the costume where characters are wearing dresses with petticoats and men in suits, this suggests that this movie is based in the 20th century. However at 0.32 secs into the trailer the music changes into a more dramatic piece.  This shows the audience that they are about to be presented a problem, but towards the end of the movie the music changes to a more uplifting piece. This is because we see the couple overcoming the problem and achieving.

The length of a typical trailer is between 1.30 to 2.30 minutes. The length for this trailer is 2.31 minutes, which shows that it is just above the average time, but it still is a typical length for a trailer.

In the trailer there is also captions and screen writing such as, 'FROM DIRECTOR ANDY SERKIS' Andy Serkis is known for his role in the 'Lord of the Rings trilogy.' when people watch this trailer they may recognize the name and would want to watch the trailer as they recognize his name and his previous works that they enjoyed. They also included Andre Garfield who is best known for his role as Spider man and Claire Foy who is also known in the successful televisions show' The crown'. Therefore anyone who recognizes these actors and like their previous works are more likely going to watch this movie.

The title is a  the very end of the trailer which is typical for a trailer. The title 'BREATHE' is in white writing on a black background in order for it to fade out. However as the title uses a thin font it makes the title appear delicate at the same time bold. The title also fades onto the screen which creates a soft atmosphere as it is in timing with the music. The trailer also has a release date at the very end, so the audience can know when they can watch the film in cinemas.
